Nikki Donaldson I started practicing Bikram yoga in Fall of 2011. I walked out of my first Bikram yoga class and was amazed by how good I felt. I felt different, lighter physically and clearer mentally. In a short period of time, with regular practice, my body started to transform with stamina and flexibility. My mind became calmer and more at peace. I immediately knew this is what my life needed. Since then, I have practiced religiously and consistently!
I decide to become a Bikram yoga teacher to further my practice and to inspire others as my teachers inspired me. I went to teacher training in Thailand, Spring of 2015. I love teaching and it has been a wonderful addition to my life. It’s amazing watching students progress, heal injuries and realize their unlimited potential. ” WHEN YOU OWN YOUR BREATH, NOBODY CAN STEAL YOUR PEACE” ~Unknown
NAMASTE :)
In 2010, my mom, Holly, convinced me to try my first Bikram yoga class. Shortly after, I was heavily recruited to help her open Bikram Yoga Katy in October 2011, as a member of the front desk staff.
In 2014, I moved to San Marcos, TX, where I attended Texas State University. During my Christmas and Summer breaks, I would move back home to help with the yoga studio.
In December 2016, I graduated from Texas State University, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. Around that same time, my mom had the great idea to add Inferno Hot Pilates to our schedule. Before I knew it, she had convinced me to join her, at the Inferno Hot Pilates teacher training, in October 2017. Then, in April 2018, I decided to attend Spring Bikram Yoga Teacher Training in Acapulco, Mexico. I thought my Mom was going to burst with excitement, when I told her. I always said I would NEVER go to Teacher Training. Well, let me tell you, I’m SO glad I did. Those 9 weeks changed my life for the better. It challenged me like I never thought it would. I became mentally and physically stronger. In April of 2021, I furthered my training and knowledge by becoming a certified LAB and Hells Bells Instructor. Both of these classes have helped me fall more in love with weightlifting.
I never imagined my journey would lead me to teaching Inferno Hot Pilates and Bikram Yoga. However, I am happy to be where my journey took me, because I absolutely LOVE it! I look forward to welcoming you into our studio, and helping you achieve your goals, one class and one day at a time. See you on your mat!
Ruijin Baker: I discovered Hot Body (Hot Hybrid) yoga in Feb. 1995 when I relocated in Jakarta (just one month after I got my BBA Int’l business from University of Memphis). I really liked it because it’s a combo of hot yoga and hot Pilates done by swimming pool the created humidity with that naturally heated Indonesia tropical weather.
I was less interested in gym exercises after I came back to Houston in 1999. After I found Bikram yoga in 2014 and never looked back. I did my 180 Day Challenge and went to Bikram’s Teacher Training Spring ‘05 in L.A. I taught in Bikram Yoga North Dallas and then Bikram yoga Winston – Salem while traveling with my family.
I started teaching in Bikram Yoga Houston in 2009 after my family settled down in Houston, and then Bikram Yoga Westheimer 2012-18.
I started traveling teaching again in 2019 one year after my husband of 30 years passed away. I taught in Harmony Yoga & Pilates, Bikram yoga Memphis and Bikram yoga Germantown.
I found Bikram Yoga Katy Students Facebook 2020 Facebook page during the COVID shut- down. Holly invited me to join her staff class and let me teach in her beautiful studio. After 2 years plus of teaching, I still admire her and cherish each student.
I’m also an Inferno Hot Pilates instructor for 5 years. Teaching Hot Hybrid is my passion because it’s related to Hot Body where I started my yoga journey. I will continue caring for all the dedicated students in BYK. During my spare time, I like to cook for the family, play with my grandsons and dance with my fiancé Craig.
Angela Hively: Welcome to Bikram Yoga Katy. I’ve been practicing since 2017, when I found myself so stiff after a road trip that I could hardly get in and out of the car. I went to teacher training at Harmony Yoga School in Cape Cod in 2021. Hot yoga lets me keep up my active lifestyle and I love seeing healing for my students as well.
