A note from Holly Hope:
I began practicing Bikram Yoga in 2010 and it has changed my life in countless good ways. During my very first class, I had an immediate awareness that I was in the right place, at the right time, doing the right thing. I not only connected with the discipline and postures of the practice, I also felt the perfect balance between challenge and accomplishment that I enjoy.
Together for 38 years, Ruben & Holly have raised their family in Richmond, TX
Like many students, I hadn’t heard much about Bikram until I tried it, but, the moment I took a class, I knew I was exactly where I wanted and needed to be. I felt an instant and strong tie to the Bikram community and finally understood the ‘body, mind, spirit’ union I had heard so much about through the years. It felt like home and I loved it!
My path to Bikram Yoga has been a winding road! I’ve always had an active life and danced as soon as I could walk. I became a fitness instructor while still in high school (at the age of sixteen), before there was an accreditation system. When not teaching, I kept fit by running and dancing then later became AAAI Certified to teach Ashtanga Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga and Hatha Yoga. I think I’ve taught every fitness class from step aerobics and group exercise to swimming and (of course) yoga. In 2010, I saw a Bikram Yoga studio in Houston and took a class out of curiosity. I loved it! My best friend had begun practicing at the same time in Henderson, Nevada. To celebrate our shared birthday, she invited me to join her to practice with Bikram Choudhury, founder of Bikram Yoga. In the spirit of celebrating our birthday, and on a whim, I flew out to Las Vegas and joined her in the tent with ‘Boss’. After practice, I bought ‘Bikram’s Beginning Yoga Class’ book and asked Boss to sign it for my future studio. I didn’t have all of the answers, but, the seed had been planted and I knew I had a new dream – to open a studio and share Bikram Yoga in my community.
With the love and support of my family and friends, I was encouraged and determined to make my new dream come true. I attended Bikram’s Teacher Training in San Diego in the fall of 2010 and have been teaching and training ever since. As I often say, ‘It’s never too late to get where you’re going’. And, here we are! Welcome to Bikram Yoga Katy – I’m honored to be your teacher. Namaste.
